Skin Treatment

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is light sanding of the skin that removes dead and flaking skin cells and stimulates the production of fresh young skin cells and collagen. Fine micro-crystals are propelled at a high speed across the skin’s surface to abrade the skin’s tissue. Debris and used crystals are vacuumed into a sealed waste container, which are then disposed.

Depending on the area treated, you will notice an improvement in your skin’s appearance. Acne scars will be less obvious. Age spots and fine lines are erased and many patients report that their skin seems to be softer, smoother and younger-looking. This procedure is an excellent and effective way to exfoliate and polish your skin without pain, anesthesia, or missed work.

What is Botox Cosmetics?
BOTOX has been used therapeutically for more than 17 years to treat a variety of medical conditions. It is approved in more than 75 countries and remains the most-studied botulinum toxin and one of the most widely researched medicines in the world. In 2002, the same formulation – under the label BOTOX Cosmetic – was approved by the US FDA for treatment of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people ages 18 to 65.

Is Botox Cosmetic expensive?
Actually, it’s quite affordable. Although many people think of BOTOX Cosmetic as a luxury treatment for the “rich and famous”, recent statistics show otherwise. According to the 2005, ASERF BOTOX Cosmetic Use Survey, people just like you make up two-thirds of the patient base: Those with annual household incomes of less than $100,000 (44%) were more likely to be treated with BOTOX Cosmetic than those with annual incomes greater than $150,000 (36%).

Botox – Cosmetic
Millions of men and women of all skin colors and ethnicities have realized the benefits of being treated with BOTOX Cosmetic (Botulinum Toxin Type A). You can too! When administered by an experienced physician, you can still smile, frown, and look surprised without those lines between your brows.

What causes frown lines between the brows?
The lines that appear between your brows actually result from muscle movement and the passage of time. When powerful muscles between the brows contract, they draw the brows together, causing the skin to fold or furrow. As skin becomes less elastic with age, those folds or furrows result in stubborn lines. Because frown lines are dynamic lines caused by overactive muscles, they can usually be treated with tiny injections of the BOTOX Cosmetic. Static lines, on the other hand, are lines that are visible even when the muscles are at rest. These lines are usually treated with a filler.

How does Botox Cosmetic work?
During treatment, very low doses of BOTOX Cosmetic are administered via a few tiny injections directly into the muscles responsible for frown lines between the brows. By blocking the release of a chemical that causes these muscles to contract, BOTOX Cosmetic enables them to relax. The effects are very localized and, when administered by an experienced physician, do not affect your ability to smile, laugh, or otherwise show expression. BOTOX Cosmetic is the only product of its kind that has
been approved for use in this area.

What are the common side effects of Botox Cosmetic?
The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection. Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton Syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects.

Is there any chance of serious side effects with Botox Cosmetic?
Serious heart problems and serious allergic reactions have been reported rarely. If you think you’re having an allergic reaction or other unusual symptoms, such as difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing, call your doctor immediately.

How soon will I see a difference?
You can expect to see results within days after your treatment, and the appearance of the area between your brows may continue to improve for up to a week. By day 30 in a phase 3 clinical study, 89% of patients judged the severity of their frown lines between their brows as moderate or better. Visible results have been shown to last up to 4 months. After that, many patients are ready to return for a follow-up treatment. Your own results may vary – be sure to talk to discuss with your BEST Program doctor about what you can expect.

How can I be sure I’m getting real Botox Cosmetic?
Only licensed and trained healthcare professionals have the experience necessary to administer BOTOX Cosmetic. Allergan, Inc., the maker of BOTOX Cosmetic, is the only source for healthcare professionals to purchase the product, and each US FDA-approved vial label has the “Allergan” hologram.

Will I still be able to make facial expressions?
Although you may see a marked improvement, a treatment with BOTOX Cosmetic does not make you look like you’ve “had work done.” The muscle activity that causes frown lines is simply reduced, so you can still frown or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.

What is the treatment like?
BOTOX Cosmetic is a quick and minimally invasive procedure consisting of a few tiny injections. Your BEST Program doctor will determine exactly where to administer these injections to achieve the best results for you. No anesthesia is required, though we may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting. The entire procedure takes approximately 10 minutes, and there is no downtime afterward. Discomfort is minimal and brief. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection.

Chromo Therapy

Red Light Therapy – Rejuvenating. (640nm), for anti-aging and treatment of inflammation of the skin.
Red light is good for all skin types. It rejuvenates the skin by improving blood flow and increasing collagen production. It doesn’t just leave the skin looking younger, but makes it feel younger deep down. The benefits of red/infrared therapy to the skin include:
• Increased radiance (the “Photo-therapy Glow”)
• Firms aged and tired skin
• More consistent skin coloration and complexion
• Increases moisture retention
• Increases circulation (due to the increased formation of new capillaries)
• Promotes collagen production for plumper, more youthful looking skin
• Increases oxygenation and restoration of skin’s natural cellular activity, which keeps skin renewed and fresh
• Increases lymphatic system drainage which detoxifies the skin tissue for the healthy look and feel of young skin
• Reduces inflammation in skin conditions such as acne
• Reduces sebum by normalizing the skin thereby helping control acne breakouts

The healing power of red/infrared light therapy also decreases skin flaws:
• Acne
• Psoriasis and eczema
• Herpes sores
• Blemishes
• Age spots and photo hyper pigmentation
• Skin redness, including Rosacea
• Fine lines due to sun damage
• Perinocular wrinkles
• Enlarged pores
• Coarse skin
• Mottled complexion
• Skin laxity

RED light stimulates and activates skin cells and promotes blood circulation. VISIBLE red light penetrates to a depth of about 8-10 mm, and is beneficial in treating problems close to the surface such as wounds, cuts, scars, trigger and acupuncture points, and is particularly effective in treating infections. INVISIBLE red light (infrared) is the longest wave length, and penetrates to a depth of about 30-40 mm, which makes it more effective for bones, joints, deep muscles, etc. Infrared light is absorbed by the skin and used as a source of energy to stimulate fibroblast cell activity in the skin, which increases the production of collagen and elastin—the proteins responsible for your skin’s tone and elasticity. Most infrared LED lights produce both red and infrared wavelengths, and are effective for rejuvenating aging skin as well as treating acne and blemishes.t.

ORANGE Light Therapy – Vitalizing
Orange light returns a vitality to skin that has lost its sheen. Especially recommended for wedding days and portraits, orange light works on dull complexions to bring out a brilliant healthy glow.

YELLOW Light Therapy – Toning (AMBER)
Yellow light stimulates the nervous and lymphatic systems, toning and strengthening the muscles under the epidermis, bringing tightness back to skin, aiding the anti-aging process.
(580nm), treatment of mild to moderate acne, affects P. acnes bacteria. Penetrates deeper into the skin than Blue LED.

GREEN Light Therapy – Calming
Green light is found at the center of the visible spectrum, bringing balance and calm to the skin and reducing redness. The calming effect also has anti-inflammatory properties and can even help reduce hyper-pigmentation. (535nm), minimizes melanin production, reduces pigmentation, calms inflammation and redness from exfoliation procedures, such as chemical peels.

AQUA Light Therapy – Activating
Aqua light activates the skin. Excellent for mature skin, aqua helps to restore elasticity and suppleness to the skin.

BLUE light (410-470nm): treatment of mild to moderate acne, affects P. acnes bacteria, stabilizes the secretion of sebumBLUE light comforts and soothes skin, and has anti-sensitive functions. It is used clinically to treat acne, as it is absorbed by bacterial acne, resulting in a toxic environment for the bacteria.

Thermavein

beforeafter1

About the Procedure: ThermaVein uses a process called “thermocoagulation”. This process is not IPL (Intense Pulse Light), laser or epilation – which are alternatives used to treat spider veins with varying results.  ThermaVein treatment offers consistent results and the highest safety rating.  The treatment is incredibly simple and accurate.  ThermaVein delivers a tiny microwave current the size of a pin or a grain of sand that causes the vein to close and instantly disappear.

What conditions will ThermaVein treat: ThermaVein offers the safe removal of spider veins on nose, face, legs, and chest.  ThermaVein can also be used on blemishes and skin tags.  ThermaVein thermo-coagulation has a very good success rate and usually succeeds in its purpose.  As with all cosmetic procedures, it cannot be guaranteed.  Therefore, there is a possibility it may not work for you.
How long do treatments take: A typical treatment should take no more than 30 minutes.  Immediately after this time the patient will see a significant improvement.  The Treatment is very visual and you will notice the veins disappear as they are touched with the pen.  Alternative treatments can take 6-8 weeks before results are seen.  You should expect some redness for a few days and slight scabbing for up to two or three weeks, but you will be able to return to work immediately after the procedure.  Most people will need only 1 treatment but others may require 2 or 3 treatments to eliminate unwanted veins.  Call today for a free consultation.
